Acorn Electron

Acorn Computers Ltd, a British company, launched the Acorn Electron computer on the market at the end of 1983. It was a 32kb RAM programmable machine which covered a wide range of functions including many games, software for money management, a diary and word processing. Audio cassettes and a standard tape recorder were used to save and load programmes. A television was used as the monitor. The Acorn Electron computer was aimed at the mass domestic market and cost a little under £200. It was designed as a cheaper version of the BBC Micro which was then widely used in British schools. Unfortunately, in spite of good reviews, it never achieved the popularity its makers hoped for and ceased production within a few years.
