PYE P131 MBQ , 1955
Pye diversified into the radio market when demand for its precision, scientific instruments virtually collapsed after WW1. In the 1950s the UK company made a range of compact portable radio receivers using small valves, such as this example, which was switched on by opening the case. The wooden case is covered in a rexine-type (faux leather) material.
