After completing the Stour Valley Sampler, a huge embroidery telling the story of medieval women on the Stour Valley, the Museum’s Blandford in Stitches group is now turning its attention to the Great Fire of Blandford in 1731. With the 300th anniversary approaching, the group are planning a Georgian dress embroidered with scenes of the fire and the rebuilding of Blandford. In this meeting we will be discussing fabrics and thread for Fire Dress, and looking at patterns for making a toile of the dress.
