Museum Groups
Blandford Museum Archaeology Group
The Archaeology Group provides a community focus for those interested in archaeology in the Blandford area. The Group organises lectures and local field investigations.
Victorian Garden Group
Members of the Victorian Garden Group look after the beautiful museum garden, growing flowers and traditional varieties of produce. They also arrange fund-raising events to support the garden.
Civic and Sustainability Group
The Blandford Civic Society, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020, has extended its aims to preserve and enhance Blandford Forum’s built environment and seeks to promote pride and sustainability in the town and district.
Blandford in Stitches
The Blandford in Stitches group creates Community Textile projects reflecting aspects of local history through embroidery and other stitching techniques.
Research Projects
East Street Research Project
Researching the history of properties and people of East Street, using Census records, maps, trade directories, archives and publications as well as personal recollections.
1831 Riots Project
The Museum worked with the 1831 Riots team at UWE, exploring the nature of Blandford at the time of the reform riots, the people involved and what happened afterwards.
Stour Valley Project
Investigating the influence of the river Stour on the development of Blandford and other local settlements. How have the river and its natural history have been changed by the people who lived here?
