Are you a local artist or maker looking for somewhere to display or sell your work? The Museum would love to talk to you about using our little shop and gallery as a showcase.
The Blandford Town Museum is entirely run by volunteers, and is free to enter. In a typical year we welcome more than 5000 visitors, mostly from outside the Blandford area.
Our shop offers visitors the opportunity to buy local, handmade gifts or souvenirs, including books and greetings cards, local honey, and seasonal plants and preserves made by our Victorian Garden Group. We would really like to feature more local arts and artisan objects, both to provide a more individual choice for our visitors and to promote the wealth of talent in the North Dorset area. We can provide secure cabinet space for small, fragile or valuable items.
We also have a small gallery space which is used for special exhibitions, frequently featuring the work of artists who are local or of particular significance in the area. The Museum would very much like to hear from local artists or makers wishing to exhibit larger items, or to talk about their work and processes. Obviously, the possibilities are limited at the moment by our wish to maintain distancing in the museum, but hopefully things will be different in the not-too-distant future.
If you are interested and would like to discuss this further, please get in touch.
